Lane Closures - Undergrounding Electric on Gulf Blvd.

electric image for homepage

The Gulf Blvd. Undergrounding Electric project began in December 2022, and the projected completion date is estimated to be mid 2025.  The work only takes place during the day as it is the most efficient time to work, as well as the safest way for this type of work to be done for contractors, employees, pedestrians, and vehicular traffic.

The City along with the Pinellas County Sheriffs Department is actively monitoring the traffic delays and taking all available measures to minimize the required detours and manage the traffic flow through this period.  Lane closures will remain necessary through the construction period of the project.

We do recognize our community experiences seasonality with our winter, spring, and summer guests. We also understand the challenge that comes with any work that needs involves lane closure.  As this work is such that it will take longer than 18 months, there is not an opportunity to delay the work to not conflict with the busy season.

We thank you for your patience, and please drive safely.
