Stingray Shuffle
Do not take big strides when wading or walking in the water. Instead, lightly slide or shuffle your feet out one at a time along the sandy bottom. This alarms stingrays, making them swim away and preventing you from getting stung.

Stung By Jellyfish?
The first thing to do when dealing with a jellyfish sting is to assess for loss of responsiveness, signs of shock or anaphylaxis and call 9-1-1 if present. Begin CPR as indicated.

Rip Currents
Rip currents are narrow, channeled water currents flowing away from the shore at surf beaches. They are commonly formed at low spots or breaks in sandbars and also neat structures such as piers and jetties.

Animals at the Beach
There is a dog-friendly beach area on the Bay side at the end of Pass-a-Grille Way between 1st and 3rd Avenues where dogs can run in the sand and surf. With the exception of this one area, dogs are prohibited from being taken on any sand beach or beach access.

Beach Cleanup
Cleaning up the beach doesn’t have to be a special event, it should happen every day! There are beach cleanup baskets available for beachgoers to easily collect trash they come across on the beach. Borrow a basket, pick up trash, recycle or dispose of it, and share how much you collected!
