Lifeguard Classes 

15 YWoman Runs Drill Rescuing Someone in Lifeguard Competitionears and Older

Participants must complete a pre-requisite swim test in order to continue in the class. The pre-test consists of:

  • Treading water for 2 minutes using legs only
  • Swimming 300 yards without stopping using front crawl and/or backstroke only
  • Swim 20 yards, surface dive and retrieve a 10 pound brick from bottom, resurface and swim back to the starting point and exit pool

Water Safety Instructor 

16 Years and Older

This is a blended learning course, combing online study and in class/pool work. Attendance at each class is mandatory. 

Participants will master the skills and knowledge to teach ARC swim lessons. Certification valid for 2 years. Students must complete a pre-requisite swim skills test consisting of:

  • 15 yards butterfly
  • 25 yards in front/back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, and sidestroke
  • Tread water and back float for 1 minute
