Rules for Fires on the Beach:
- Only clean, dry, non-pressure treated wood will be used;
- Beach fires may be up to a maximum diameter of 4 feet;
- Beach fires shall not be left unattended and shall be extinguished by the Applicant at the completion of the event;
- The wind velocity must not exceed 15 mph;
- A fire extinguisher must be present (either pressurized H20 or 2A 10-BC dry powder);
- The fire must be contained within a roped-off area 20 feet in diameter;
- The fire must be located at least 75 feet away from any sea oats or other dune vegetation;
- Fires must be extinguished by 10:30 p.m.;
- During turtle season, from May 1 through October 1, the approval of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection must obtained prior to applying for a permit; and
- The number of permits issued for any one facility shall not exceed three per month.
