The Planning Division is responsible for administering the city's Comprehensive Plan, assisting citizens with various planning issues, ensuring compliance with Florida Growth Management Act and special planning studies as required.

The Planning Division also provide staff support for the city's Planning Board and Historic Preservation Board.

The city is required by the Florida Department of Community Affairs to do another Evaluation and Appaisal Report (EAR) on the Comprehensive Plan by June 2007, and the planning staff will be working on this document this year.
