The City Clerk's office provides a variety of services for the City Commission, city staff and, most importantly, our citizens. Our office has a staff of four full-time employees and one half-time employee, plus the able and valuable assistance of several citizen volunteers. The office acts as the liaison between the City Commission and the people who need to communicate with the elected officials of the City of St. Pete Beach. Our general responsibilities include:
- Maintaining the public records of the City Clerk, the City Commission and the various appointed boards and committees that serve the Commission
- Serving as the Supervisor of Elections for Municipal Elections
- Collecting and maintaining a library of historical documents, some dating as far back as 1918, most of which are cataloged and bound by subject, providing a wealth of valuable research material
- Assuring that all public notices of meetings and public hearings, bulletins and announcements are distributed and available for easy access by citizens, including posting them on the internet, on city bulletin boards and on our local government cable channel municipal bulletin board (Channel 15 is available within the the City of St. Pete Beach only)
- Preparing, monitoring and maintaining the City Commission and City Clerk budgets
Now with the advances in the technology of electronic records management,we are taking steps to place our long term retention documents into optical imaging format. Currently, we have transferred over 40,000 pages of records. The goal of this program is to facilitate electronic access to City Records. Our offices are on the first floor of City Hall, located at 155 Corey Avenue, St. Pete Beach, Florida 33706. You may telephone us at 727.363.9220.
