The vision of the City of St Pete Beach Department of Public Works is to become the best managed public works department in South West Florida by achieving results for our residents, businesses, and visitors. Our services should be invisible.

Public Works Mission Statement

The Purpose of the City of St Pete Beach Department of Public Works is to provide the best-maintained infrastructure and deliver the highest quality services of any public works agency in South West Florida to residents, businesses, and visitors so their demands and expectations for essential services can always be met, increasing quality of life in our costal community.

Public Works Business Environment

The public's expectations of greater accountability will challenge the Public Works Department to continue to devise new and better ways to deliver expected services and manage resources.

Technological advancements and corresponding improvements will drive the Public Works Department to refine and define its core processes and to find new and better ways to manage information in order to provide continuously improving service delivery.

As a result of the aging of our infrastructure, the Public Works Department will be tasked with implementing least obtrusive and most cost effective rehabilitation techniques.

Our environment is what makes the City of St. Pete Beach a premier community in South West Florida. Efforts to protect that environment will continue to require more of our resources. The Public Works Department will be tasked with developing programs to mitigate environmental degradation.

Recognizing the need to protect the receiving waters surrounding St. Pete Beach, the Public Works Department will be prepared to develop programs to comply with changes in the regulatory and government policies that often require immediate compliance.

Cooperative agreements with other government entities will increasingly be the means for us to accomplish many of our tasks.

Public Works Strategic Results

The Public Works Department will provide world-class infrastructure maintenance and service delivery.

• Benchmarks will be established for all programs to ensure continuous improvement in service delivery.

• Develop processes for objectively ranking maintenance projects.

• Develop city wide fleet management program.

• Develop and implement pedestrian bike way plan.

• Develop and measure progress of sanitary sewer Infiltration & Inflow plan.

• Develop a program to replace deteriorating force mains.

• Initiate traffic calming plans in residential neighborhoods.

• Develop storm sewer maintenance program.

• Develop a management and Inventory control system for all municipal infrastructure.

• Automate work-flow processes.

• Identify costs for all public works services.
