The Pinellas County Sheriff's office is responsible for processing crime scenes to ensure the proper collection of evidence which may be found. Crime scene processing may include photography, latent finger print processing, the collection and preservation of critical evidence and making cast impressions of shoe prints or tire tracks.

The technician's duties also include the control and safeguarding of all evidence and property found by this department and is responsible for the safe delivery of narcotics and other types of evidence to the necessary laboratory.

The ID Technician oversees the booking procedure and ascertains that mug shots and fingerprints are taken of every subject arrested by this department and that a file of such is kept and up dated. She maintains this file for the purpose of photo line-ups and bolos and furnishes this information to other official government agencies when requested.
