Tree
Removal Permits
Tree Removal Permits must be obtained from
the Parks Division. Our offices are located on the second floor
of City Hall. We are open Monday through
Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You can also obtain a copy
of the permit application here.
When you complete the application, you
may either bring it to the office in
person or mail it to the Parks Division, 155 Corey Avenue,
St. Pete Beach, FL 33706. If you need further

The following are the Adminstrative Guidelines
for Tree Removal. These should answer most of your questions
about this process. If you wish, you can print them out by

- A permit is required to remove any
tree species having a diameter at breast height (DBH) of
three inches, measured at four and one-half feet above
grade or any palm more than eight feet overall.
- There is a permit fee of $25.00 per tree,
however, there is no fee required for transplanted or dead
trees or trees that are listed as a Category 1 invasive by
the Florida Exotic Pest Plant
Council. This fee is due and
payable at the time of permit approval.
- Tree Removal Permits are issued to property
owners or their authorizedagents. Proof
of authorization to act as agent shall be provided
at the time the permit is submitted.
- All contractors shall be registered to
work within the City of St. Pete Beach and shall be familiar
with all regulations pertaining to tree care.
- Permits are valid for three months from
date of issuance.
- Removal should not be scheduled until a
Tree Removal Permit application has been approved.
- A replacement tree may be required. Division
22 of the Land Development Code lists the required number
of trees for single and two-family properties, as well as,
replacement requirements for multi-family and non-residential
properties.
- Should a replacement tree be required,
the tree must be installed within six months from date of
permit issuance.
- Replacement trees may be located anywhere
on the property.
- If the removed tree is a native species,
it must be replaced with a native species.
- It is the responsibility of the property owner to contact
the Parks Division for an inspection of the replacement
tree. Failure to replace required trees may subject the applicant
to penalties.
