Land Use Policies - Historic preservation
Objective
1.6
As
of the effective date of this comprehensive plan, as
amended, development activities shall be required to
ensure the protection of historic and architecturally
significant structures and resources.
Policy
1.6.1
As
appropriate, the city shall encourage owners of historic
and architecturally significant structures to seek designation
of their properties as historic sites by the federal government,
state of Florida or by the City's Aesthetic and Historic
Review Board and City Commission.

The
city shall consider adoption of incentives to encourage
preservation and enhancement of historic or architecturally
significant structures and esources.
Policy
1.6.3
The
city shall adopt procedures to be incorporated into the
land development regulations which ensure that new development
does not adversely impact designated historic or architecturally
significant structures and resources.
Policy 1.6.4
Prior to approving any plans for redevelopment in the Community Redevelopment Districts, the property proposed for redevelopment shall be reviewed to determined whether the existing buildings have any historical significance to the city and measures will taken to mitigate the impacts of redevelopment on the identified historic resources.
