Future Land Use Policies - Maintenance of beaches and park facilities

Objective 1.11

Consistent with this comprehensive plan, the city shall continue to maintain the community's open space.

Policy 1.11.1

Those lands lying between the mean high water line and the Coastal Construction Control Line are recognized as protected open spaces, as are any public lands which lie between the mean high water line and the water's edge.

Policy 1.11.2

Where feasible, preservation areas, parks, and other components of the city's open space system shall be linked by bike paths, jogging trails, and/or pedestrian pathways.

Policy 1.11.3

The city shall continue to administer the land development regulations in a manner aimed at preserving the access to and view of the beach and other recreational facilities for all residents of and visitors of this community.

Policy 1.11.4

The regulation of recreational uses of waterways and water access areas shall be consistent with sound waterway management.

Policy 1.11.5

The city shall work with Pinellas County and other appropriate governmental agencies to ensure and maintain public beach access.
